Our research titled “The Rural Mobility Index: A Composite Framework for Capturing Multidimensional Mobility Constraints in Rural Areas” was successfully presented at the 2026 Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting as part of Lectern Session #2062: Measuring and Addressing Rural Mobility Challenges: Evidence from Communities, Policy, and Planning.
The presentation by our researcher, Sarah Mvuma, showcased a performance-based framework for assessing rural mobility, focusing on transportation cost burden, service structure, and operational efficiency. The work contributes to ongoing national discussions on advancing data-driven approaches for rural transportation planning and policy.
