Cleveland State University and ODOT Strengthen Partnership in Research and Academics

On May 23, 2024, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cleveland State University (CSU), had a meeting with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). This meeting was to solidify our collaborative relationship in the areas of research, academics and professional/workforce development.

The meeting took place at the ODOT headquarters in Columbus Ohio. Key representatives from CSU included Dr. Stephen Duffy who is the Chair of the department, Dr. Emmanuel Kidando, Dr. Srinivas Allena, Dr. Josiah S. Owusu-Danquah who are all faculty members and actively involved in ODOT Research Projects. Mr. Stephen Asare, who is also a PhD student and an ODOT student researcher was part of the meeting. ODOT staff present in the meeting were the ODOT director, Dr. Jack Marchbanks, Mr. Brian J. Brown who’s the Chief HR Officer and Traci Luers, Workforce Diversity Manager.

Dr. Kidando introduced REAT and center research objectives. Dr. Duffy highlighted ODOT sponsored research worksgoing on in the department. Dr. Marchbanks became very impressed with the workCSU is doing. Having talked about their commitments as an institution, heassured the CSU team of their candid support in their ODOT research works,students academics, professional development and opportunities.

We concluded the meeting with a tour led by the ODOT director, for the CSU team to really appreciate the worksgoing on in the ODOT institution. We look forward to continuing ourcollaboration with ODOT and working to bring on board cutting-edge solutionsthat will benefit ODOT.
