REAT Center Collaborates with Florida DOT for Future Transportation Innovations

On May 21, 2024, the REAT Center had a productive meeting with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). This meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening our collaboration and enhancing transportation systems in Florida.

Key representatives from REAT Center, including Prof. Ren Moses, Dr. Eren Ozguven, Dr. Thobias Sandro, Dr. Yashuo Sun, and Dr. Tsegai Yhdego, engaged with FDOT members from various departments such as Transit Planning, Transit Operations, District Freight, Safety and Operations, and System Forecasting .Prof. Ren Moses provided an overview of the REAT Center’s objectives and ongoing projects, emphasizing their alignment with FDOT’s strategic plans. Notably, Dr. Thobias Sandro presented a future project to improve rural transportation, which received positive feedback from FDOT members .The meeting concluded with discussions on potential collaborative research areas, including applying ML/AI methods to generate valuable FDOT data and addressing problematic curves in rural areas .We look forward to continuing our collaboration with FDOT and working on innovative projects benefiting Florida’s transportation infrastructure.
